This I've heard of, and even saw picture once. I thought the one I saw was in full wood, does anyone know if they were full wood or sporter in style when made? I like the look of this one. I've requested a year date and a pic of the wrist.

Have only ever seen ones just like that one.The scope mount i am most familar with is the Field which fits to the side of the action.7/8 inch early or 1 inch a little later.
Yep, had one, once. Seriously accurate, however, the magazine was a bit "variable" in performance; very picky with soft-points, mostly good with hollow-points.
I think the mag is a knock-off of a Savage design, can't be sure though. Anyone likely to have some to compare?
Some have checkering on the fore-end as well as the pistol grip.
Yet another one I regret selling. Oddly enough, I still have a couple of spare bolt heads in my parts boxes.

lol, you're right about that, Ed ... You have such a huge gun selection there that I'm always surprised that any enfields made it to the US at all, let alone some of the nifty ones like trials T's etc. Still, I miss gunshows that take a day to walk through.

SMLE .22 Hornet
The Hornet serial number is on the barrel knox. There were a couple of grades to the woodwork, from cut down and grafted onto Lithgow SMLE butts and foreends, to the very tidy purpose built sporter set like on mine. I haven't seen anything to indicate they were released with full wood.
I have two types of magazine (which are very hard to come by) there is a third type or more correctly, modification, but all the details are at the link. One feeds well, the other has problems if loaded with five.... Magazines from a Savage 23D in .22 Hornet are very similar and will work.
Mine shoots thumbnail sized groups at 50m with open sights. Here's a couple of pics.
You know, even if we weren't interested because its an enfield underneath, that is still a great looking, well balanced looking rifle. Nice pics, Ed, thanks.
