Would say impossible or as rare as Rocking horse S**t to find, have a sporterized one i picked up last month, excellent all matching rifle, but the fore-end has been cut down, hangaurd, barrel band and nose cap missing am looking at splicing in a piece to extend the fore-end, will make the handgaurd and am trying to find the nose cap or a drawing so i can make one. An other forum member (Surpmil) is in the same boat.Quote:

I'm working on getting some reproduction forends done. Have a superb example to work from. Am told to expect accuracy within a few thou. Will post about it when I have something to show.

Judging from the preponderance of carbine bolts in Lee Speed, BSA and other pre-WWI Lee Enfield sporters, I would guess a lot of these carbines were converted to sporters by the UK gunmakers.
The LEC's were disposed of circa 1907 were they not?
It must have been the first big lot of Lee Enfield rifles disposed of by the War Department.
(I've seen a photo of an Indian in Canada carrying one in full wood configuration, but no date on that IIRC)
Any progress on getting repop woodsets made up?
Forend is at the stockmaker's now. No progress report lately.
