I use the MTM plastic bore guide for my '03s, M1917s, and commercial sporters. They are pretty universal, cheap, and long lasting.
Cube,
Ya' wouldn't need a bore guide if ya' cleaned from the breech with an aluminum rod would'ya? A Garand yea, but a bolt gun, no.
Lancebear
Like Lancebear stated, clean from the breech. I use and heartily recommend the Tipton carbon fiber rods. They won't bend, or harm rifling. The 40" one is plenty long enough for a M1903.
FWIW,
Emri
I'd stay away from any jointed aluminum rods and like the others have said, clean from the breech end. I like Dewey rods and if you are careful, you won't get any solvent or crud in the action by not using a bore guide.
Gentlemen,
Thanks all--I generally shoot precision rifles and don't like sticking a bore brush on the muzzle side since it endangers the crown. I use a bore guide on the chamber side to prevent the cleaning rod from dragging across the top of the chamber if I slip. Its anal, but its the way I clean.
Thanks,
Steve

Don't hold me to it 100%, but I think a bore guide for a 3006 Model 70 will fit your 03 just fine. Seems to me that's what I use, but what do I know, I have CRS......................
