Check out the recent
"Parts" rifle thread.
It's the best mount I have found if you don't want to modify your rifle. I had to grind the lower corners of the rings where the fit in the mount so I could move the ring further back and clear the rear sight protector ears. Probably just the rings I was using.
I used Weaver medium "top mount",49041.No grinding, rear ring fits in frontward slot.Cheap Tasco 3x9x40 until I get funds for a "period" looking scope.Next on the list is a good cheek rest.An internet search revealed several options that I like.Blackhawk has a pretty good looking one, lots of "lift"to get your eyes higher above the stock. It's made of nylon though,so,if it works good I will take it to a saddlemaker and have one made of leather.
Shot my scoped 1917 today. We have an 8"x12" steel at 530 yrds.I hit pretty close all around it,within a foot or so,would that be descent accuracy for a 1917?
OK guys, after several versions, I am done with my version of a scoped M1917.
S&K mount, low Burris Z rings, Weaver K4 scope, Brauer leather cheekpiece, and Dvorak Instruments 34mm soft lens shade. Unfortunately, I messed up my shoulder at work the other night, so it will be a few weeks before I can take it out.

Dang! I like that setup! I've got a spare Leopold hanging around here. I might have to get me an S&K mount. Please let me know how well the leather cheekpiece help with the cheek-weld when you get around to firing it, please. Thanks.

Nice, Trickster... thanks for the update!
There is a sporterized scoped 1917 at Purple Heart Gun and Pawn (Former Walt Grape Pawn) on McCart in Fort Worth. Might make an interesting "replica" shooter if remilitarized. I have no financial stake; just thought someone might be interested. I just "looked at it" across the counter. I think it was like $275 or something.
