Hi,
take a look at this page: Swiss Bayonets

Thanks for the link, im guessing it uses the 1887 blade, maybe the Italian models used different ones? I see no ref to this model, its like nobody knows about them. A friend of mine found one for real cheap and couldnt resist.
Hi this is a pic from an Italian Vetterli bayo i found. Hope it helps.

very nice bladelet me know if you ever want to part with it, does that model fit an 1890?
Thanks, but it isn´t mine. They described it as an Italian Bayo for the 1890 Vetterli rifle.

I have two of them and they are fun to shoot.

Hi Gunner,
I saw a similar bayonet for an Italian Vetterli at a gunshow for $135 CAD. Can you tell me what the one you pictured is worth? I may try to bargain with the guy if I see it at the next show....
I had a single shot Italian Vetterli with no rear sight so I took one from an old Carcano. I made brass out of 348 Win cartridges. Had to take the base down and shorten them up. Made a black powder blank and threw in a 44 cal lead bullet then the blank and let fly. I could keep it on target at 200 yards with no problem. Eventually traded it off for something important.
Is this the rifle you are talking about?

It's the only 1890 Vetterli that I can come up with. Maybe yours is dated "1890" and is an earlier Model 1870 or 1870/87? IIRC, all took the standard Italian Vetterli bayonet.
Forgot to mention that you can learn more about the Italian and Swiss Vetterli rifles here:
