03A3 replacement barrels
I need a new barrel for an 03A3. I can get one from CMP or look for a 2 groove replacement NIW RA barrel.
Anyone know anything about the CMP 03A3 barrels? 2 groove? 4 groove? Accuracy? Maker? Ease of installation? (any issues with it that make it more difficult to install)
Is there anything that makes the RA replacement barrels more desirable (other then historical accuracy) than the CMP bbls?
Also, I've read that the Gibbs "1903A4" replicas come with a Pedersoli made barrel. Can't find the barrels for sale anywhere. Are these barrels any good and are they available anywhere?
Thanks

Chuck, I'll certainly keep you in mind when I get ready to have it installed. Right now, I'm just looking for a replacement barrel to stick in the safe for that time when I'm ready for a new one.
Would like to get one before they all dry up.
Thanks.

There are lots of USGI barrels around. Just look. The 4 groove barrels that Gibbs is using are very good barrels. Not for sale, I understand.

creiterion makes 03 barrels

They are Criterion barrels used on Gibbs rifles and they are supposed to be available from CMP. Last time I checked CMP did not have any in stock at the south store. The barrels are apparently very highly rated.

The gibbs barrels are/were indeed Italian. The deal included SARCO and they have lots of issues between SARCO and Gibbs. They are nice barrels.

DGR list Criterion barrels for $ 189 I think unless I read it wrong 03 or 03-A3

The Criterion barrels are very good. I have one on an M1. The Cast Bullet Association does not permit these in their matches for as issued. The CMP does not have any restrictions except that the replacements must meet military contours.
