BYF/42 serial number series?

I just picked up a BYF/42 K98. Under the serial number is a "CC".Is this the series or is this some other kind of marking? Did they go A-Z and start over with double alpha markings?

When they used double letter suffix it was a upper case and lower case letter like Kk or Mm Nn and so forth. A few of the script letters can be really hard to figure out. The E and C in small case are hard to discern. Easy to make a mistake.
