CG63E- i need some info
i picked up a CG63 over the summer, but it isn't the usual 6.5x55 chambering- it's 7.62 NATO. has a turned down bolt and parker hale sights. i was told on another forum, its a CG63E, made for export to the UK and Canada, so it's an original factory build, not a gunsmith special. i've never seen one on any internet forums, or gunshows. i'd like some more history on them if any one has any, it's a great gun bore looks brand new and i can cream clay pigeons at 200 yards with it.:)

interesting.maybe mine has been modified a bit in regards to the trigger. the article states the original trigger was tuned, but mine has been replaced with a fully adjustable after market.

I own a CG80 in a 63 stock that I picked up at Sarcos a couple of years ago. There is a fantastic book on the Swedish rilfes called the Crown Jewels. It goes into some details about the CG series. The big thing to look for is the Rune on the drivers side of the rifle. This ensures its a true CG. By the look of yours I have no reservations saying it will have one. You got a nice one, Your sights are sweet, I have the Solidern style on the CG and on the Fladt sytle on my FSR. The CG's and FSR rifles were put together by government certified smiths and marked (in most cases) acccording to the geographic area of the smith that did the work all of the CG's were glass bedded and some of the FSR were bedded. They are truly the Crown Jewels of shooters. They can be found on any receivers whether Mauser or Gustuv in any serial# range, but, again the CG's got the Rune. The receivers were blue printed square and all work was carefully done by hand. I believe the barrels are cold forged. There are six different type of sights and the guns were built for 300 meter shoots. They all shoot extremely well for open sight rigs, Mine will punch a 2.5" 100 shot group, w/o cleaning, believe me, I've done it often. This isn't to say I don't clean my guns, I just wait til I'm done shooting. The FSR is close in accuracy but will open out a wee bit when heated up.
I have a small collection of Sweds. and they are my all time favorite guns for shooting. All are in 6.5 X 55, the worse shooter is a mint condition M96 that shoot 3" to 4", 10 shot group at 100 yards and the best stock shooter is a type 1 M38 that will punch a 1.5" to 2" 10 shot group at 100 yards. If I had cash to burn, I buy another CG80 and mount some Zeiss glass on it, just to see what it will truly do. If you'd like to share all the markings on the gun with me, I'd gladly run it down for you. If you could strip the wood off there may be some more process marks on the barrel or under the receiver.
