Inland safeties/mag catches

When did inland switch from the knurled/checkered type 1 to the smooth face type 2. I have an early 100K that looks to be mostly original and it has a type 2. Also when did they first go to the long smooth face mag catch?

According to Reisch the switch in safety from type 1 > type 2 occured around Serial 255,000. Reisch says mag catch switch from type 1A to type 2 around serial 90000-100000. Reisch has been known to have errors though.

Inland started to use the T2 safety and T2A mag. catch alot earlier than whats listed in Riesch's book. The carbine club has the info, but I am not sure which news letter has the info. As always there is a mixed usage period.

I am hoping Brian or Newscottlander will shime in with the correct info.
Your type2 mag. catch with short face with serrations was very limited in production or modified type1's.

I would like the correct info when Inland switched from type1 safties to type2, and when they switched from type1A long smooth face mag. catch to type2A short smooth face.

The only info I have is what I wrote down from original carbines, the first one might be yours, but I do not remember where I got it.

96XXX with type1 safety and type2 catch.
124XXX with type1 safety and type 1A catch.
186XXX with type2 safety and type2A catch.
204XXX with type2 safety and type2A catch, which is my original Inland.
225XXX with type1 safety and type2A catch.
242XXX with type1 safety and type2A catch.
258XXX with type2 safety and type2A catch.

As fars as I know the above carbines are original and not restored.

Working on it Scott. The 96 and the 242, might be my ones but I havn't got anything inbetween. I'm hoping wtmr will help, along with the two guys you mentioned. Cheers, Mike.
