I had switched the Inland to a Type V SA potbelly for shooting matches. I finally used the directions on the CMP Carbine page to "hang" the barrel in the recoil lug. Thought I would check it at 25 yards on the 25 yard carbine test target, 5 shot group of WCC ball ammo: 3/4" center to center, 1" circle covers it completely. The rest was a barn fan with a blanket on top! Pardon the cell phone pictures.
It's also nice having the recoil plate cut out on the bottom to help support the base of the plate.

I shot off a total of 30 rounds of WCC ball today between plinking and checking sight in. The first 5 shot group was actually better with the first 4, and the 5th (a called flier) opened it up to just slightly larger than this group.
I can honestly say that the M1 Carbine is my favorite weapon to shoot. I have always felt a strange, visceral connection with the M1 Carbine ever since I shot my first one (my cousin's DCM one) almost 50 years ago. I also shoot the M1 Carbine off-hand better than any rifle, even my 1972 vintage 10-22. This Inland has turned out to be a treasure!

Man, that is a correctly-sighted carbine if there ever was one. Is your rear sight centered (if adjustable)? I mean is the aperture close enough to the center for the adjustable indexing plate to be set on the sight base centerline?
YES!!!!!!!! :super::super::super::super::super: It is a Type II so I lined up the center index line. Believe it or not, I only had to do one click to the right, straight out of the CMP box. The group is smaller, though, since I changed from the I cut and "hung it" in a pot belly. The center of group is 1.5" above POA on the 100/150 setting. According to my ballistic calculator that is dead on POA at 150 and about 3.5" high at 100. Perfect for a 6 O'clock hold on a 100 yard bullseye. The rear sight housing is staked only very slightly left of center. Lots of the carbines I have seen seem to be VERY left of center.
