I traded for this rifle and was just wonder what it was worth. Any help would be appreciated

It has been rebuilt after the war because of the type 2 sight and bayonet lug. Metal handguard and aftermarket flash hider are actually detrimental to value. If you took off the metal handguard and put on a GI wood one, and dumped the fake flash hider, the carbine is worth about what a RG from CMP would be. It has little collector value but as a shooter it sounds great.
Is the slingwell marked SC B ?
now that i look a little closer yes it is S C B

Hard to find stock with the Circled Cross Cannons stamp.
They are expensive.
Pictures are a must, even if you borrow a camera.

P.S. Does the stock look to be Birch or Walnut.
Look at stocks on Gun broker. Compare lo-wood to hi-woods. To tell what you have.
Look to see if the rear sights been staked in place. If so you'll see a couple punch marks on top of the receivers dovetails...usually on the rightside at the very frt and back of the sight.

With your serial number being 559,xxx it would have come issued with earlier features than you now have on it.
The .U. stamped on the leftside of your stock means that stock went thru the post WWII rebuild program. Underwood was the contractor that rebuilt it. The stock being marked SC B, was made by Sprague & Carleton Co for a IBM carbine. That 559,xxx may have been placed in that stock during the rebuild or years later by a different owner. No way to know. The carbine does have the later parts on it that usually show it's been thru an upgrade/rebuild.
As Dave HH said.... Dumping the metal handguard and flash hider would benefit it's value.

On the rear sight; take note of the adjustment as evidenced by the indexing marks on the back. Then rotate the windage knob to move the aperture all the way left. Look down into the space now visible to see possible round stake marks. That receiver probably would have come with the PI sight originally. Return the aperture to it's prior position - it may well be set for correct windage. If the sight base is offset in the receiver, don't fret, because that's normal. They would try to shift the base so the gun lined up with the aperture centered.
