Have a chance to pick some up pretty cheap ans was wondering if it will be ok to shoot thru my MOSIN NAGANT rifle. I believe they are lacquer coated casings. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks , Mike

whatever the other short comings of the Mosin family, it will shoot whatever you offer it. they're robust rifles that'll keep banging away. as long as it's 7.62x54R, it'll work (though you may experience more sticky bolt syndrome with the lacquered stuff). it is corrosive too, so clean accordingly
I've shot a few cases of that ammo through Mosins as well as other arms, no dramas. A friend had a rifle that didn't like it, but it was not the best example around.- A wee bit rough, it was.
Never had any problems with that stuff.
Good info. Thanks guys. Mike
Lacquer build up is no problem either with a little minor cleaning maintenance. Just every so often, 500 rounds, say, or anytime the bolt starts getting 'sticky', get some lacquer thinner, attach a chamber brush or shotgun brush to one section of cleaning rod. Dip the brush in the lacquer thinner and chuck the rod section into a drill and go to work on the chamber. Dip the brush frequently and soon the chamber will be lacquer free. You'll want to do this with the action out of the stock- lacquer thinner won't do your stock finish much good though technically lacquer thinner should have no effect upon dried shellac.
