Is a m14 with a smith receiver and all GI issue parts worth $3,000.00?
It seems high to me, but I'm not that into M14's.......yet.

I believe that it would set a record at that price.

Exactly what parts (identification numbers), and what barrel and stock? Any accessories? Probably still high.
Seems way high to me too, but I'm cheap.
Yes, if it is one of the original ones made by Smith Ent and is one with the integral single lug or two luggs, is on a rifle built with USGI parts, including NM sights and has an NM barrel.
An oroginal lugged Smith Ent receiver alone, if you can find one, sells for about half that or more.
i agree, with all GI parts and in good order this is the going price and they are always going up in price. try and find the GI parts then price out a good US made receiver add it all up and see what it cost. then have a good smith put it all together. $3000 is fair. a m25 LRB receiver alone will cost you about $1800 to bring into canada.
I have a "want to trade" ad on this site for my M14 made with one of the best Smith Ent receivers.
It would take that much, $3000 or a rifle of equivenent value to get mine.
Have turned down lots of folks that are always out there bargain hunting.

If it is one of the first run of Smith receivers - new USGI parts (not worn down) - and possible NM upgrade then it is worth it. USGI parts are drying up quickly. The receiver I believe is cast not forged, but they are very sought after. If you look at Smith's website they really like their product ($). But on the flip side, it is very quality made.
