Receiver marking, Pattern 14 rifle

Anyone able to decode this marking on the receiver ring of this P-14 rifle?

Do you have a close up pic of the symbol? I got a Remington P14 last month that has a mark similar to yours. I heard it meant it's been upgraded from a Mark1 to a Mark1*. I don't know what that means either. :sos:

That appears to be the five pointed star in a circle and I have heard that it's Winchesters stamp for upgrade to the Mk 1* also, but I don't know for sure. My Eddystone is marked with an asterisk at that same spot on the receiver and a small mark that resembles a Japanese Mum on the extractor.
