Found this at the sporting goods store near my house. Needs to be cleaned badly but seems to be in good shape and in working order. Do you think its worth the money??

Looks nice enough to me and has a WW2 era handguard. Price is nice as well. Go for it :)
As stated its a keeper, but, a little info and some close up pics could let us better evaluate it, who knows, you might have an X sniper or something-SDH
They actually have 3 in stock Im going down there tomorrow. I there anything I should look for that would indicate the better choice of the 3?
They are also getting some M1 Garands in at the end of the month I will definatly be getting one of those:dancingbanana:
Bore condition should come first. Second, I would favor a hand-guard with brass tabs as opposed to blued steel. Finally, if the bore is nice, earlier guns are rarer than guns dated 1941 through 1944.
If everything is equal, most folks favor the Tula made guns (star with arrow inside it) over the Izhevsk rifles which are more common (arrow inside triangle).
Well I got it today.... They only had one left when I got there.
Its the Izhevsk version (arrow inside triangle). Year is 1943 It was very clean and in good shape and the Bore condition looked good. It came with the sling, some pouches, a little bottle and the bayonet. All #'s were matching. I'll post some pic's in 10 days when I pick it up.
Excellent ...
Looking forward to the pics.... :)

Badger
Cool, I'll be looking for the pics. I always love those Mosins-SDH
