HOLY SHXX you have to be kidding. Here in Oregon beer and wine are in every store. Hard stuff in State Licensed Liquor stores only. But as long as you look over about 25 they don't even check ID for age. A few stores are anal about it and card anyone appearing under 40 but that is rare.
Is it NV or AZ that has drive up Liquor stores where you can even get a premixed cocktail at a drive up window LOL
AF,
I encourage you to gothat extra mile: if they ask for a urine sample, offer them a stool sample as well. In fact, insist they take it! Don't take no for an answer.
Mark,
AZ and NM both allow drive-up window liquor sales. Which seems kind of hypocritical as both states but especially NM have massive campaigns against DWI. Montana bars used to sell "to-go" shots and cocktails. It wasn't until Oct 2008 that it became illegal to drink and drive in MT. "Open container? We've heard of it!"
What can you say - it's the Code of the West.

There are drive-up stores in Arkansas also. Mississippi doesn't have drive-up liquer stores, but do have "Beer Barns". It is basically a drive-thru. Car lane in the middle, beer coolers on either side. Attendants ask what you want and how much, and load it up for you. Alabama only recently allowed wine to be sold in stores. We can even buy it and beer on Sunday now, but only after Church is over at 12 noon. No liquer sales on Sunday except in "private clubs". Every place with a bar is a "private club" around here. Louisanna allows ANY type alcohol to be sold in ANY store (with a license) 24/7.
Cheers!!

PA owns all the liquor stores in the state. They heavily regulate all sales. The clerks are government employees. Only state in the union that still does this to my knowledge.
Beer is sold at distributors that are licensed by the state but not owned by the state.
Alcohol can be sold at bars which are privately owned but I believe there are restrictions on full bottle sales.
They are trying to change this, to at least get rid of the state owned stores because the employee benefits as state employees are killing the profits. The first steps are sales of beer and wine in convenience stores which of course the beer distributors are fighting because the license requirements are different and I think they reduced the cost of the license. Plus it eats into their monopoly.
People that live near the border just go to the neighboring states to buy their alcohol, it's cheaper and they purposely set up stores to take advantage of this.
In Louisiana they used to have drive through bars that sold hurricanes and dakaries in Styrofoam cups with masking tape across the lid as a liquor seal. I don’t know if they still do. It’s been years since I was there.
