Need help with my #4 mk 1.

I picked up a #4 mk 1 in trade. Looks like a pre 60s import. No import markings but has England on the receiver and proof test on the muzzle. Butt plate was broke (pewter I think) so I replaced it with a brass one I had. I'll see if I can find a correct one. Rear sight isnt correct. I'll change that too. came with alot of goodies plus another rear sight. One question is who is the maker? Bolt is mismatched but its ok. Has 2 grove barrel like my Longbranch and is bright and shiney. Heres some pictures.

Let's put it this way, we don't have export marks and so the "England" looks a lot like an import mark to me.

Your right and sorry about that. What I mean is it doesnt have the billboard import marks like todays do. Its not a vet bringback. What rear sight did this originally have? Thanks for the information on the maker.

Nice rifle. Definitely a pre 1968 import to the USA. It was most likely equipped with a Mk.II flip sight or possibly an adjustable Mk.III fabricated sight as original. I have them in stock if in need.

Ya'll have to educate me on the different types of sights these had. Any links or pictures would be nice. I'll have to buy a book on these since I have 3.
I'll be interested in one of your sights and the correct buttplate if you have one. It had a grey one that looked pewter. It was broke so I replaced it with a brass one. PM me.

Thank you for the useful information. The loose sight that was with the rifle is a Mk 1. The guy I got it from was gonna make a sniper out of it and why it has the sniper sight on it. I think it had a MK 2 but he must have lost it since I didnt get it with the rifle. I'll put the Mk 1 on it until. I get a Mk 2 or Mk 3. Thanks for the information.

The Mk.1, Mk.3 and Mk.4 with standard military Mk.7 ammunition are sighted in at 100 yards with the sight extended and set at 200 yards. In this position and with a 6 o'clock hold the rifle should hit 3 inches high or above the point of aim.

The *Mk.2 flip 300/600 sight with a 6 o'clock at 100 yards is to hit 6 inches high at 100 yards.
(*must be sighted in with the bayonet fitted at 100 yards or 25 yards for correct POI)

NOTE: this doesn't mean new commercial .303 ammunition will have the same POI as military Mk.7 ammunition.

Thanks for sighting in info. I put the MK 1 sight on this rifle. I plan to buy a MK2 and 3 in a few weeks just to have them. I have 500 or 600 rounds of ball ammo I can try. I dont remenber who made it but its slurplus ball. I'll try it out and shoot my other one. Anyone know the markings on it. Heres some pictures along with my 42 Longbranch:
