Sometime you just get lucky. $225 shipped. Still has a remnant of the original black paint, BNP stamps, Faz stamps, Broad Arrow stamps, fore end has the nose cap, no sign of Ishapore FTR, pre-1968 'ENGLAND' import mark. Receiver/bolt/wood all match.

How do you convey envy on a brown background!!!!
Very nice!
I picked up my all matching, 3/46 dated one a couple weekends ago. Interestingly, the left side of the 'L' butt on mine is stamped in large font 5/46. So perhaps the rifles weren't necessarily finished as dated on the receiver (or mine has a replacement butt).
The forend on mine is the more common, rounded off wood version.
All the best,
Mike
finloc- a great deal in any language! Congrats! Next task, a range report?
Gingercat... I'd think yours had a long butt fitted in service to suit the operator as they all would have left the factory as standard. Maybe Peter can shed light on this?
Going to celebrate my nation's independence on July 4th, by putting some English holes in American paper tommorrow. I will let you know how she does. I stripped her and gave her a healthy drink of BLO yesterday. checked the bedding, free floating barrel (foreward of the knox form), good lands and no pitting in the barrel; she should shoot better than me.
