Is it just me or are surplus arms not commanding the prices they were a couple of years ago? over the last year I have made some really good buys on GB but I have also been killed on some items I put for sale on GB.

The downturn in the economy has hit the milsurp market pretty hard. Gunshow prices on good quality milsurps have remained high, but sales are almost non-existent. Auction prices on sites like GB are way down. It's a good time to buy, especially on auction sites. But forget about selling for a while.
Time to buy, if you have the money, is between NOW and November.
American mid-term elections are in November and when the Dems get turfed, or even weakened seriously, as they WILL be, the economy will start to look up. If the Dems are put into a minority in both Houses, then the economy will look up a lot, and quite fast... and gun prices will pop right back up to where they were before.
Thing about out-of-production stuff is that it IS out of production. They just ain't makin' no more Rosses or Carcanos or M-1917s or Peruvian M-1909s, so the ones that still exist are IT. As they become worn or damaged, this pushes the prices up on the pristine ones... and the less-than-perfect ones push upward also, although at a slower rate.
Trouble is that I don't think the economy will EVER get high enough to push the prices up on some of MY stuff! ;-)
