T99 (Pic Heavy)
Answered an ad in the local "trader paper" for a "Japanese sniper rifle, rare". Ended up bringin' it home, anyway.
Couple of questions, if I may. #'s match on the bolt and safety, is there anywhere else I should look?
The stock cut at the wrist - would this be some kind of duffel cut? Anybody seen that before? It's solid, and the guy says he shot it alot.
Haven't cleaned the bore yet, but the rifling is very strong. Front sight and floorplate release painted red?
I believe the bi-pod is original. Anything you guys can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

Yup, I'd guess cut for the duffel bag.
Extractors are often numbered, generally at the tail end, and sometimes the nose cap on the bayonet lug.

The bolt, the firing pin, the receiver, the safety also I believe. If it will disassemble then do so. Easy to do.

Its a 21'st series. Bolt, firing pin, safety and front bayonet band should match last three digits of serial number. You have a nice rifle. The bore is chrome plated so you need not worry too much about cleaning. riceone
