Enfield Tanker holster markings

I have my Uncle's Tanker holster from WW11 ( open top with the webbing loops for x6 rounds) Has 423 stamped in the interior. Any thoughts?

"Tanker" as in short barreled? Or was HE a tankie?

For the Enfield tanker revolver.

I've never seen a holster for one! Are photos possible?!?

I believe hotel71b is referring to the Enfield No.2 Mark 1* revolver. It is the double action, spurless hammer version of the revolver mistakenly believed to be a model made for the Tank Corps of the British Army.

Nothing in there about the "snubbie" (option 1) that I could see, but I'm prone to miss the obvious at times!

I'd assume the 2" barrel was a post-service commercial modification. I've had a quick skim through my copies of the Skennerton books on the No.2 revolver and WWII British small arms contracts and can't find any mentions of No.2's with shortened barrels.
