? on Parker Hale conversion of centerfire rifles to .22 rf

In the 1930's catalogs, Parker Hale offered to convert centerfire rifles/pistols to .22 rf single shot using their barrel liner system and alterations to the rifle's firing mechanism.

Has anyone encountered an arm converted in this manner? Other than the normal markings at the muzzle indicating Parker Rifling, are they marked elsewhere as having been converted by Parker Hale? I wonder if they did any of the Winchester lever actions?

I have a US M1917 and a Pattern 1914 that have been converted to .22. The bolt extractor system is different for each design. One has been reproofed but the other has not. One may have been done in the US as I doubt that a British gunsmith could do such an extensive conversion without having to have it reproofed.

On a similar vein, I often used to sit and ponder at the stupidity of having to re-proof a barrel that was a .303", relined to a .22". Surely if it passed an original .303" proof, then the .22" proof later should be academic. OR am I missing something? Thinking that if a .22" barrel from an L1A! passes proof while unsupported in an L1A1 barrel, then it will probably pass proof if it IS supported.

They usually say PARKER-HALE or AG PARKER on them somewhere. Many simple .22s have been relined in this way, also old Rook-and-Rabbit rifles and surplus S&W 38/200 revolvers.

Yes I am aware of those you mention and they are usually marked at the muzzle crown. I am looking for any PH markngs on the receiver area or barrel chamber area to indicate more work was done beyond just a barrel lining. One of my rifles is PH marked at the muzzle but the other has no markings.
