Stock for a Remington 03A3 (and any other advice!)

Guys,

Pawnshop had a Remington 03A3, I've dated to 1942 manufacture with a 1943 barrel (with ordinace 'bomb burst' stamp.) 4 grove barrel and all for 200.38, tax included.

Well the previous owners cut down the stock but didn't touch anything else (thank goodness!)

So I am looking for advice on a stock and anything else needed to restore it to a issue A3.

BTW, picked up a Postal Meter M1 carbine at another pawn shop, minus the rear sight, but all G.I. for $327... tax included! A rear sight, milled, cost me $40 flat. And it shoots very well.

So I want it's companion all GI to.

What's the serial number? I'll bet you found the "1942" date on a website that lists ALL M1903A3s as "1942". Any M1903A3 in the 3,380,000 range to about 4,140,000 is a 1943.

You'll need a stock, handguard, (probably) a lower band, upper band (stamped), stocking swivel band and screws.

If you can post pictures, we can tell you for sure.

The SSN is 3528xxx.

I plan on posting a picture once I pay the balance (yep, lay-away. Plunkec 20 bucks down and I'll pay the balance next Friday.) I even brought in my cleaning kit and cleaned the gun before I left (the store knows me well, I picked up a Ruger low back Security Six several months ago for $302, tax included. Perfect shape that S6 is in and locks tight.)

The stock with the gun has good GI swivels, but the buttplate is rusted and the floor plate is ok. So looks like the lower and upper stock and the two bands.

I suspect Obamanomics is what is causing the nice guns I see for sale now days. Lots of people getting laied off.

Your getting a great deal! Serial # dates to April, '43. Look for a stock that has bolts instead of pins. Markings should include RA, crossed cannons, and FJA on the leftside of the stock, below the cut-off. Circled P under the wrist. If alot of the parts are parkerized, a stock with a rebuild stamp might be more "appropriate" for a rebuilt gun. Nothin' wrong with that, either. It's all history. Can't wait to see some pics!

I disagree - a 3,500,000 range M1903A3 will still have a pinned stock. They didn't shift back to bolts until a couple of months later. Ditto on the RA - not until later.

I wish I could find a pawn shop around here with those kinds of deals.
