Anyone have... Inland 2 rivet HG for Winchester bull-nose?
I have had my Inland in a nice SA walnut potbelly for shooting. Since I have decided to put the Inland in a large shadow box with some of my dad's Iwo Jima stuff and photos, I decided to put it back in a Type III stock. I picked up a gorgeous HI black walnut stock with a seriffed "P" I mentioned in someone else's Inland stock thread. SG recoil lug fit perfect, and the barreled action hung the same as it did in the potbelly.
The problem is my bull-nosed Winchester 2 rivet handguard is too light! From what I can tell, my HI is black walnut, as it has been cleaned and re-BLOed. I don't want to mess with stripping and staining the bull-nose, so I thought I would offer to trade it for a very dark or black walnut Inland 2 rivet in very good condition. I am sure the Winchester bull nose is worth more, but a straight up trade is fine. I can send pics of the Winchester.
Is it Bull nose or not????
On closer inspection of my handguard, I am not sure what it is. The front is not as tapered as the type Is I have seen, and it very level at the top with a pronounced corner. It looks about half way between a bull nose WInchester and a standard Type I. It is marked LW, though there are faint mark of a light stamp after the LW (L is deeper than W) It almost looks like "LW-W" but I can't find reference. "LW-B" would be Lumb Woodworking for IBM, but they only made type IIs. These old ladies are so confusing???
