The only mention of a difference I could find was that some have a "rougher" finish, doesn't help much.
Not sure this is definitive but the upper one is a '41 "dispersal" rifle, the lower a '17 SSA.
Yup, I made a mistake. The dispersal is indeed on top but the SSA has a No.4 type piece. I was told that alcohol only kills the weak brain cells but I'm beginning to wonder about that. Nice picture though, huh?
