Am completing an M1 D, all USGI just not Army built, and was wondering if anyone has considered lining up the scope with the cross hairsintentionally "off" a bit to compensate for the offset of the scope?

??? Not sure of the intent of your question.
However, when zeroing the rifle via the scope, I just ensure the center of the group averages roughly 1-1 1/2" to the right of the point of aim.

most folks seem to do that , keeps from having to chase your moving impact points.
