Odd place for this mark
I found this Gun in a collection I was helping a guy sell last year . He did not know it nor did the guy he bought it from but low and behold it is a Canadian marked ! this was the only Canadian marking on the gun (none on the slide) .It is also BP marked as well and is in the low 900k range . The gun is all correct matching slide ect. . Sorry this is the only pic I have to post of the gun( it`s not mine) ,but this is why I look at all gun`s close nowday`s even if it`s not minty . Has anyone else out there seen one marked on this location & were any of the other Canadian hand gun`s gun`s marked on the trigger gaurd ?I know most 1911a1`s were marked by the mag rel & behind cocking serrations on slide.

I remember looking at a pistol in the low 900K range at the OGCA with non-standard Canadian property marks. I'm not sure it was the same pistol, based on the photo. But my impression was that it might have been okay. If I recall correctly, the slide was not property-marked...but was numbered to the receiver. I did not rule out the marking being legitimate, simply because it wasn't marked as we normally see.
When I saw that pistol, I recall saying what could be right on a pistol outside the typically-known accepted serial range, normally doesn't add much, if any, value... compared to one in the accepted serial range with standard Canadian property marks. In fact, many collectors might question the markings and turn their nose up at the pistol.
Then you ask yourself "Wouldn't someone trying to fake something at least use a pistol in the accepted serial range, and go to the trouble to mark the pistol in a way normally accepted as correct?" Well...not if they didn't know how to mark it or have a gun in the right range. That normally results in an interesting pistol, but one without any added value and sometimes a lower value.
I've also seen Canadian property marks crudely scribed onto pistols' slides and receivers in serial ranges outside the norm. Not what we normally accept, and same story as far as value and desirability goes.

I try and pay particular attention to the Canadian variations...... but have never seen a C broad arrow there before. Quite interesting to say the least.

I looked up serl# and it `s 911xxx . I also have seen the other ones you are talking about in the 1mil serl # range and I think one of them is the same gun that show`s up in Tulsa every year , the other is in WA and I do not like those gun`s ,they both are minty and very close to same serl # but as you said they were crudely done and the mark`s are on opp side of gun .I hate to use the word fake on those 2 but you could not talk me into buying one .
