Terry,
Thanks for a great educational experience! Here are some photos of a rifle I just bought. Seems original? Thanks, (original scope was lost when sent for repair)

Hello Bigedac ... :)
I added your pics manually to the above comment that you had tried to post, because I wanted to add a clarification for you that I thought would benefit all members. First, pics are not permitted in comments attached to Knowledge Library entries, which is probably why you had a problem posting them here. However, they can be be added to any post in the regular informational forums, but for purposes of clarity and space, we try to restrict them in these brief tacked on comments within the library. Only administrators can post pics here, when appropriate.
Second, your rifle is not the same as the rifle in this library entry. This library entry is about a No.4 Mk1*(T) Savage Sniper Rifle (less scope), originally manufactured in the U.S.
Your rifle pictured was manufactured BSA Shirley in the United Kingdom and you can view the corresponding library entry for it here:
1944 Enfield No.4 Mk1(T) Sniper Rifle (Mfg by BSA Shirley - M47c) (click here)
Hope that helps ...
Regards,
Doug
Doug,
Thanks a million for your help. I'm a new "kid" to this site.

Hi folks,
This is my first post. I'm after 'guidance' regarding a Savage No.4 Mk1* (T) less scope.
I have found one which is being sold with a No.32 Mk3 scope and mount. I think it is a 'Less Scope' as I believe it fits the criteria for a Savage, 1942 dated less scope as per forums and Skennerton books and a couple of others.
I have a few questions.
1) Did Savage rifles, that went on to be fitted with a scope, always have the scope serial number stamped on the wrist and a 'T' stamped in the usual place.
2) Is there a record of Savage No4 Mk1/1* serial numbers for the rifles put forward for H&H conversion
3) Where they stamped with the 'TR'
4) and finally, how much should I consider paying for this?
I appreciate any help/information
Thanks in advance.
Has the "T" stamp Bigedac, but is there a scope number on the wrist of the butt?
Pretty much a time capsule you have there: straight out of the wrapper so to speak.
