What are the grommet holes in the stock for?

Good morning,

I have been gifted a Czech (BRNO) made 8mm Mauser with a german style bolt handle. Unfortunately, a previous owner sporterized the rifle stock.

I wish to attempt to return it to as near “issued” as possible.

The barrel is 23” from muzzle to chamber and, including the action, 31.5” from muzzle to end of tang.

My question…. will this mechanism fit into a standard (if there is such a thing) K98 Mauser stock?
