Hi,
I Hope someone can help me here. I've purchased the remains of a rifle, a sporterised 303, No4 mark 1/2, 1955 Fazerkly FTR. The serial # been changed from original now reads E added with electric pencil 1 or I 648 then 7, added on in the same way,(EI6487). The barrel has been cut down by removing the length which holds the bayonet lugs, the original sight remains. Barrel re-crowned as standard, the barrel then quickly steps up in diameter and the dia remains thicker than normal throughout it's length. The final diameter is equal to receiver ring. Appearance is very similar to normal, just a larger dia than my other No4 mk1 or mk1*s. Minimal markings, but appears factory. finish is blued, no band or ring fitted.
The barrel dia is large enough that it prevents a stock handgaurd from going on, leaving about 1/8inch gap. The overall barrel length 23&3/4inches.
Not sure if this is a real rifle, or just another sporterised Mk 1/2 , but numbers are consistent throughout.
Any advise would be appreciated, but I dive into finishing it off.
The reason I'm tagging this on here, is that the wood on the gun is done in this style , and the rear sight missing. Have no clue what to call it, if anything, but seems interesting.
Regards Ian
