Question about Ruger Mini 30, Mini 14 Gas block system
Does anybody know about disassembly of Mini 30 and Mini 14 gas block systems? It is my understanding that the reason Ruger does not recommend disassembly of this system is because the allen screws holding it together are torqued tight to a specific value. Am I wrong about this? Does any Milsurp members have any knowledge of this? Another reason I know they do not want you to disassemble this system is incase you re-install it with the gas pipe (piston) wrong. If this is done the rifle will not cycle and in effect be a single shot rifle. My main question is about tightening the allen screws holding the system together.
Ruger Mini 14, Mini 30 gas block disassembly
Thanks for the info Browningautorifle. I don't have any plans to disassemble one. I read several post by people at this site who have taken theirs apart. I thought it was more complicated than just tearing it down. I think the only reason that would prompt me to do it is if there was carbon buildup and the rifle did not function as a result. As far as getting the thing back in the correct position, isn't there a bushing that would make this assured? However, I know you can put the gas pipe in wrong.
