Longbranch rear sight
have a sporterized Longbranch No.4 with a rear sight which is like the rear sight on No.4 Mk2 rather than the pressed metal longbranch sights I've seen. The sight has the letter B stamped on it in a few places. Is this a longbranch item? I'm asking because this rifle is a project and i'm selling the parts, just want to be sure I don't misrepresent anything.

If the LB are encorporated together then yes, it sounds like a Longbranch item. Pics will help.

I've been conned on this one once or twice buying online so I applaud you for doing the right thing ... The longbranch 'B' looks like a B with a slightly extended vertical line and horizontal line, its subtle but distinct, I'll add a pic here ... there's no way to mistake this with a B for BSA

Nope this is a B for BSA I guess, there is no extended L over it. But now I know what the B means anyway. Thank you.

"B" is for BSA...British made sight no different than "F" or "P" manufacturers. The other way to tell is the "LB" has a small battle aperature hole whereas the Brits have a large one. "LB" is also stamped "C.A.S." om the top of the elevation stem. Hope this helps. Ron
