1944 Maltby unsportered almost ready for duty again.
Attachment 18827Attachment 18829Attachment 18828Attachment 18830Attachment 18831I did a post on this #4MK1 when I bought it this past summer. I was watching it a local flea market for 2 months. The price started out at $180. After 2 months it was down to $150. I offered the seller $140 and took her home.
This a 1944 Maltby all matching, except for mag. The finish on all metal surfaces is perfect. The bore is strong and mirror bright. There isn't an import stamp only "ENGLAND" on the receiver. This rifle looked so nice that I coukdn't let it stay a sporter. Overall it was only removed from the service stock and put into a sporter one. I finished up a few other projects and got this one going. The stock and furniture came from members on other forms. The front barrel band I had was cracked and broke when the screw was tightened. I might try to darken the forarm and hand gaurds the match the butt a little closer.
I will take her to the range today and see how well she will shoot in orginal configuration.
