Who made this stock?
-
I am far from being a Garand stock expert but to my untrained eye it looks like a Springfield. The only thing that bothers me is the non-serifed P on the pistol grip which would normally indicate an H&R stock but the other hallmarks of an H&R stock are not there. The angle of the stock where the comb drops to join the top of the pistol grip and the angle where the bottom of the pistol grip joins the lower butt all look like SA. I'm guessing, but I'll still go with SA.

Actually, I am thinking that most of the lettering is from a Greek rebuild program.
•Ρ - Rho
•Δ - Delta
and
•Χ - Chi
•Ο - Omicron
The large 'P' ?
-
The P on the hand grip is a firing proof mark put there by the factory. P without serifs is commonly H&R and I think IHC; with serif P is Springfield and WRA. Sometimes they have a circle around them, sometimes a square and sometimes nothing.

Springfield. The non-serified P on this stock is a rebuild proof mark.

Thanks, everybody. I have a rebuilt (probably several times) Springfield stock, with character!
