Questions about my Parker Hale No4 Mk1 Long Branch,1944

It would seem that I have found Nirvana. Perhaps a grandious statement, but I am feeling postive that questions I have had for 20+ years are about to be answered.You see I am a 40+ year old husband, father ,raconteur,amateur historian,poker pro, ex stylist,eater of flesh ,as well as those vile earth grown things,confidant, gemologist,frustrated novelist,musician(noise maker),and finally, an avid outdoorsman!.

During my youth I was able to purchase a beautifull rifle.It is marked as a Parker Hale-No4,Mk1 Long Branch,1944. It came in a wood shipping case, with the last sticker on it being a CN rail tag with 1971 on it.I am most interested to learn of its value,and more importantly, the past of this exquisite battle rifle.My prized firearm, is to my eye, pristine.Several of my friends have said they have never seen a prettier gun.

Anyway, thatès enough gushing about my girl, she luvs me and I, her.
If any of you fine folks are able to help piont me in right direction I would be most appreciative.

I am a fan of the No4 custom Parker Hale rifles. They are a nice custom rifle built on a surplus Enfield action. The best ones which it sounds like you have are the custom no 4's which have PH barrels and nice walnut montecarlo stocks.
The guns also have very nice bluing and other custom touches like you would see on a nice Weatherby. They are also one of the only guns where you can have a legal 10 rounds.

The bad news is they are completely undervalued. You can get a nice Custom no 4 for less than 500$. Often much cheaper. I guess it is good news if you want another one.

I think they are a fabulous rifle I only wish they had made a whole bunch of .308 ones as well.

I would love to see some photos of your rifle and especially the shipping box?

I also have a No4 1944 Long Branch. I was wondering the value of the rifle. It was my grandfathers and I'm interested in selling it. Other information can be provided upon request.

John, I don't know if you are in Canada, but you may want to get some legal advice before posting pics of this altered Enfield around the Internet and trying to sell it. At best it's a Prohibited firearm and I have no idea whether grandfathering would even apply, depending upon your own circumstances and firearms license status.

John - I don't know where you live, but in the US or Canada, there is every probability that the firearm in your photos is outright illegal.
