Hey fellas,
I'm looking for a nice No 4 and i was thinking about making the trip to the Penrith gun show in a couple of weeks to have a look.
I was just wondering if any of you guys have been to it before and if its worth a look enfield wise.
Are there usually heaps of them there for sale? Are the prices cheaper at a show or the same as buying from normal shops?
Any info would be appreciated!

It's a bit of a lottery. From my experience sometimes there are quite a few and the next time there are none.
what model and price range did you want to pay.

Anything in the standard no 4 mk 1 variety - dont care if its a mk 1, mk1* 1/2 1/3 etc. Not the high end stuff like T's and L42's etc
I just want something in really good condition with matching numbers. I'm not fussed which factory its from. (unless theres major differences i dont know about???) I do like the look of the ones that have the grooves on the fore stock in front of the receiver. Not sure which company did that.
To be honest i dont really know alot about the no 4's, i normally buy and shoot no 1 MKIIIs but i thought it was time to get a no 4 into the gang.
I've noticed theres a heap of savages on the market at the moment, ive been told to stick with long branch and maltby...i dont know why though.

Grooved top wood can appear on any #4 regardless of maker. What rifle got what wood generally was luck of the draw with few exceptions. Why not buy Savage?? Especially if the price/condition is good. Of course I may be partial with them being made in the US of A:cheers:

I've seen lots of good No4's in that price range on usedguns.com.au lately. I think a really good matching No4 from any of the manufacturers would be a great start in no4's. Why not buy one of those really good looking Savages on usedguns for around the $6-700 mark. Not dirt cheap, but if they're as good as they look the prices are reasonable.
