I do not have a 1903 ram rod bayonet rifle, but I understand that there is only one type of rear sight for this model. It has the peep that moves up or down at the rear and looks like the 1902 Krag rear sight. I have one of these sights and the other feature that is different from the Krag 1902 sight is the knob on the slide, it is dished and the groove will only will accept the 30-03 rimless cartridge to lock it tight.
Yeah, sorry on the photos, all my RB rifles are locked up!
Try here.....

Thanks. I have this info as well as a significant amount more. Still looking for specific points of interest though.
When lucky enough to examine a rifle, sometimes there are things found that are not generally known. The investigation starts
there.
Like the rear sight question posted here. Maybe someone has some info about them that is different.
Thanks for the response.
The rear sight in the m1903.com photo is indeed one of the rod bayonet rear sight variants, and the one exclusive to and most commonly found on rod bayonet rifles. But, the slide binding screw has been replaced.
I have a photo of the other variant. But, I am unable to upload it to this website.

Here are pictures of mine. The rear sight and fixed base are quite different from the Krag or the later 03. I must admit I like the RBR sight system, and I find the RBR to be a better balanced rifle than the 1903.;)
They are fun to shoot, and it takes bystanders a moment to realize something s different.
John, that handguard was a real RBR handguard someone shortened about 2 inches, but left the barrel clip intact. I got it for $35. I now need a crackerjack wood worker to restore it. 100% RBR now - no repro parts whatsoever.

She would be so upset.

Jim, if you don't mind me asking. Where did you get the rear sight base? All I ever see are the "1901" bases.
