reloading

I have a m1916 spanish Mauser.. I want to start reloading reduced loads. Could I get some guidance on what the basic equiptment I will need to get started. I have hunted and shot rifles all my life but never thought about reloading until now. Any help would be appreciated

Basic equipment:

• Press
• Dies
• Shellholder
• Powder scale
• Powder dipper or measure
• Caliper or case length gauge
• Case trimmer or trim die
• Sizing lube
• A good manual to teach you how!

Agreed.

For mild loads ( good for 100 yards shooting) look at the Hodgdon website for the TrailBoss powder. It fills the most cases to 75% and is good to use with copper plated lead bullets like H&N bullets. You can call the guys at IMR for loading advices in the case you won´t find any information for your caliber. Good luck!

I would recommend the Lyman 49th edition reloading handbook. I like to load low pressure rounds for some of my older firearms and I like it because, unlike most other books, it gives pressures for the starting loads, as well as the max loads. Of course, you'll end up with many books.

As for equipment, I started out with a Lee Anniversary kit. It was a gift, but it was all I needed to get started. I know some folks look down on Lee stuff, but IMHO, for somebody just starting out and not planning on loading hundreds or thousands of rounds a week, you can't beat $100 (plus dies etc) to get you going.

Hornady, Lyman, Lee, RCBS all have basic starting kits. Like the man said, add the dies, shell holders, trimmer, powder rpimer and ball and you can pretty much do it. I also recommend the Lyman book. And follow the instructions.
