Over the years I have found some Winchester early trigger housings with large pads that would not accept the round top Springfield safety. These are the early single hole trigger housings. Most of the Winchester trigger housings will accept either the WRA or SA safety.

That's because the earliest hammer stops were monsters. WRA gradually reduced the size as production continued. By the Win-13's the pads were noticeably smaller.....but still larger than SA's but not by much.
Funny that today I received about 20 original WRA groups from one of my sources. Original unaltered from very early production to late. Earliest had revison 4 flat tops safties marked high, extra hole trigger and hammer. Colours and finish run from very dark for the earliest to that almost translucent lite gray typical of the 2 mil and win-13s. Only the earliest had hammer spring housings and plungers in the white. Disconnectors on the triggers were also "in the white" on those.
Also in the group were some nice original blue WRA cylinders complete with stack swivels and front sights. Hard to find stuff! STP
Did Springfield on their early trigger housings, have larger pads than Winchester ?
