Anyone restored a cut down to a constabulary configuration?

I have just enough cut off stock to splice in a piece of wood to insert in the front band. It will be a little short of the actual constabulary stock length and since I can't turn the muzzle down to accept the bayonet ring that is not going to comply. I don't want to build a phony constabulary to try and deceive anyone. I just like the "fully dressed" look of it. I know I am going to have to stretch / open the barrel section of the band to get it to fit a fatter diameter. I have an idea in mind on how to do it but I thought I would ask if anyone has done it. thanks in advance for any advice.

I haven't done it, but thought about it as I have one cutoff with a 24" barrel, but a stock like the school guns. I had read that the bands for the school guns were opening up by forcing them down on a mandrel, a properly sized piece of steel.

I had read that somewhere as well. I don't know how I could do that without messing up the patina of the band. I thought about heating it with a torch and forcing it as I don't want to crack the band. It is pretty thick and will take a lot of force to deform it to fit.

I am in the process.... Lucky for me I started out with 6" lopped of the barrel (Why he did so, is anyones guess!)....my barrel and stock were cut at the 24" mark since I just got it recrowned...
I am going to have to cut the stock back for the front guard.
