Hi all,
though this post does not pertain to firearms it does pertain to WW2 Canadian surplus and since there is such a wealth of knowledge amongst the members here I'm hoping to find an answer. Does anyone know what these are, besides gaiters I mean. I have two of them as a pair, obviously left and right, though I can't find any more info about who wore them or for what. I'm guessing they would be for a dispatch rider due to the length.
Any ideas?
They "C Broad Arrow" marked indicating acceptance for Canadian military service. They are Web Pattern 37 and were manufactured in 1942 by "Z.L.& T.L." - Zephyr Loom and Textiles Ltd. of Peterborough, Ontario. Who wore them, I don't know, but they don't seem to have seen a lot of service.
There are a ton of books you can buy showing the exact accoutrements and how they were worn.

Plus, here's a few nice examples of 37 Pattern webbing from ~Angel~'s collection. It's amazing to see all of these individual items from the 1940's, stamped with government ownership military "broad arrow" markings, including the individual cigarettes stamped "HM Forces".

This is the stuff I already knew, but thanks for the links to pics, Badger.
I've lurked through most of them already!
I own quite a bit of kit myself and have many reference materials, but have never seen these.
Funny thing about the loops, they don't tighten!
