Off Topic, Re Stens

I know this is off topic, but my question does at least relate to WWII British firearms. Does anyone here know which WWII manufacturer of Stens used the code S233? If it's any help, their serial nos. started with FE. Is it Fazakerly? TIA, folks.

All Fazakerley Sten guns were allocated serial numbers commencing with the letter F. But Fazakerley were not S- anything, they're in the North of England.

There's a good, cheap little book out about Sten guns. Published by Collector Grade but I forget who by........... Worth a read I'd say! I fired a nice Mk5 during the week and it didn't miss a beat

S233 = Mass Products, Newtown, Parkstone, Dorset

They've stopped me from doing any test firing! :nono: Seems some bright spark has decided I have to have the relevant State firearms licence for work! :bitch: :banghead:

The same question arose here Son but while the main outside contractor has a 'cover-my-arse' authority, the civilian armourers are regarded as 'crown servants' during the course of their employment. End of story..........

Which means you will have a license to use any thing in civvie street. Dont tell them just go and get it. Same thing happened here for some blokes boy can they play. LUCKY B#$%^@D

Thanks to Peter, Alan & all f/the help. So, I guess the MK II I saw was made by Fazakerley (FE Ser. no.), but I'm confused re the S233 stamp, which is right above the s/n. Maybe Mass Products made the amg well? Oh well, @ least my questions were answered. Thanks again, guys.

There's no confusion. Zillions of people made parts for Stens so their marks are stamped on everything. But only 5 or so factories assembled the parts and these are identified by the serial number batches

Every few months or so, someone puts a post on the 'wwiireenacting' forum asking 'who made my Sten?' and quoting the dispersal code of the manufacturer of the magazine housing.

As mentioned there's an excellent book about Stens to which I refer in such circumstances. By a learned chap formerly of Her Majesty's Electrical and Mechanical Engineers if memory serves.
