I carried one many miles. Mine had the aperature sight. I used a hose clamp to hold the bipod up, that way it handled more like the BAR.
I have a 1000 meter aperature sight that will be going on her . Soon as I can find a good top cover. The old ramp sight/cover will get wrapped up and put away for safe keeping. Small world.. I grew up in Vic. ..Saanich & Oak bay. Family is still out there.
I.
We had those L2's on Australia and NZ and they got a reputation as being 'a little boy trying to do a mans job' We went through the same phase here with our initial SA80 assault rifles and the machine gun variant. This time it was a case of a baby boy trying to do a grown mans job. It just wasn't capable of delivering the goods and has now effectively been replaced by the MINIMI.
Once we got to Malaya the L2's had been replaced with L4 Brens and we never looked back and I have to say, that the Nasho's (the National Servicemen) who had been trained on the L2's looked on the 'new' 7.62mm Brens in awe
I always agreed with you Peter. We should have done the same as UK and adopted the F.N. M.A.G. at a rate of one per section. At least during platoon attacks you had a fire base. We were still doing the old red line and charge drills then too. I think it was the ever ready "cheap it out" theory that prevailed. Live and learn.
I've got a top cover for you if in need. bdlltd@bellsouth.net
I also have a C2 clone but am looking for the tangent rear sight like yours Ickmann. I shot a couple of issue C2s years ago and they were hard to control even with a Reg Force Gunner coaching me. I never fired mine as I had too many guns to choose from.
I also have a C2 shipping & storage carton haven't looked at it in years.
