im a newbie to this forum ,i have a question....i have a 1944 bring back from the korean war it has chinese writing on the stock and it is definetly russian made..i bought it when i was a teenager(a long time ago) for 45.00 its in excellent condition.there is no blueing on it at all..it never had blueing ...any body have info and whats it worth? i will post pics when i figure out how to and when i have more time.thanks
any one out there?...i have to dig it out of my gun cabinet and take pics..will post this weekend...some one respond...
As my experience is somewhat limited, I decided not to jump in here with bad information.
Condition is always very important in deciding on value and without photos, I know a lot of the more knowledgeable individuals are not likely to say much. Even with photos, most are reluctant to assign a value to something as that is between the seller and the buyer.
As for never having blueing, I find that to be extremely unlikely as the Soviets blued their rifles.
pics soon, condition is excellent and there is no blueing..i did some researh myself,they are worth more with bring back paper work(i do not have) the pics will be detailed..

with these pics i actually can see some blueing in some of the lettering..you are right aragorn 243..its been in my gun cabinet since 1974...i wish it could talk..can any one translate chinese on the stock?
I see blueing on all but the bolt, it's just a little worn.
Looks like a nice one, definitely Russian as you said. No idea on the lettering.
M44's are going in the $150-$200 range from what I can see at shows and things. This one with some history behind it and not having an import mark (I'm assuiming it doesn't have one) is probably at the upper end.
But that is just my uneducated opinion. The lower prices are for those that have been reworked by the arsenals and imported recently. They were selling for a lot less than that recently but the supply seems to have dried up.

Do all the serial numbers match? They are found on the barrel, the bolt, the butt plate and the bottom of the magazine hinge plate.
Another thing to look for is if it has been counter-bored. A lot of these have had that done to them.
Slings are easy enough with these, ebay lists them as original or new production by the dozens and they aren't expensive. I've had some problems with the dog collars breaking because they are old and cracked. I just ordered a new production one to see how they compare to the originals. I haven't been able to find just the dog collars without the sling but as the slings are running about $6 with the dog collars, $10 with shipping included, it's not a major issue. I've had two out of three sets of dog collars break on me so not the best odds. Slings are fine, I now have two extras of those.
all match but the bolt.lack of matching bolts are common with bring backs,my uncle was in the marines in ww2 on iwo, he said they would pick up japanese rifles(after dispatching the owners) and fling the bolts as far away as possible so they could not be reused....... the m44 was not rebored.
