We have some words that are called " Namenwoerter" or" Hauptwoerter"(Nouns) and words with an adjectiv in front of, and they are always written with an capital letter. These are words that gives an subject or a person a name. Here´s a example: " Der Baum steht auf einem Huegel hinter dem Haus von Martin." ( in english:" The tree is on a hill behind Martin´s house"). There you have the word" Baum" (tree) it is a subject and the same is with "Huegel"(hill) and "Haus"(house). And then you have"Martin" he is a person and has a name, so all names are written with an capital letter.
Again, there you have an advantage in your language and it is easy to find out who has written a english text. The germans will often write things like " The House of my Aunt is nice and has an big Garden." You will write the words without an capital letter. Hope this helps, if not let me know and i try to do it better!
