If the M5 bayonet stud fits the hole - it is fake !
^ Can you explain?
Don't know if that particular one is legit but I have one just like it on mine and is a WWII vintage. Can't tell if it's a new reproduction either.
The WW2 vintage bayonette fit over the end of the barreland locked onto the bayonette lug. The M5 (Korean era) bayonette fits into the double slotted gas plug. So I beleive what RCS is saying is that if the M5 fits into the single slot plug it will not be an original part since the single slot was not designed for that bayonette.
Yes , that is true. What's also true is that those fake repro solid plugs that will do that will also take a grenade launcher , allowing one to fire off a grenade with a grenade launching cartrige and a closed gas system ................ well , at least once , anyway , per rifle .
Chris
I feel these are fakes. The size of the hole is too small and the base is turned and not ground. Stay away!
Heads up these single slot gas screws are repos! Stay away.

I have one single slot screw and the slot is a bit buggered but an M5 will not come close to fitting. He states the screw is from an armory 5-pack. I'd like to see pictures of the 5-pack.
A lot of his US web gear is mint & unissued. I'd have to be very cautious to buy stuff that is "new".
