"P07" bayonet questions
I picked up a bayonet to go with my No1MkIII, it's a little bit rough, but serviceable. When it came in the mail, I noticed a couple of odd things about it. First and foremost, it doesn't fit onto the bayonet lug of my rifle. It appears like it would, except the lug cutout on the pommel is too narrow for the lug. Second, it is completely unmarked. Not even on the scabbard. It doesn't appear to have been scrubbed or ground down. What do I have here? Was there any variance in bayonet lug dimensions on MkIII's? Any insight would be appreciated!

This one's for one of the many Mauser variants. It may fit your 98K. Exactly which country of origin will be answered in a minute. BAyonet Collection Presentation will have examples of this one. Have a look.

Aw crap, it is a Mauser bayo... D'oh... Judging by the collection of pictures on the site you linked me to, "Belgian long export" seems to be the best match. Whatever "Belgian long export" means, lol! Thanks for the link, hopefully I can positively ID this thing and see if I got ripped off or not!

I don't think it's a rip, it's just not what you wanted. Now if it was advertised as 1907 then send it back for refund.

Belgian long export its to distiguish this from the Belgian short export ;-) the Belgian 1924 rifle was exported aroudn the world to many users, the long and short merely distinguish between the two blade lengths. the bayoent fits a 1924 Belgian mauser, so will also fit the Polish, german, Czech versions of the same type - soory i do blades not guns.

Thanks gentlemen, I appreciate the help! I'm just going to return it. I was thinking of keeping it and selling it, hoping to make a few bucks on it, but I'm not sure it's worth a whole hell of a lot more than I paid. It seems to be a somewhat obscure piece, so it would probably be difficult to find the right buyer.

very common adn as like most you cant put a country to it usually dirt cheap as well
