New member, No 5 Mk 1 rifle owner.

Just purchased a No5 in Ontario and the transfer is just finishing and now a postal strike looms!

This is my first milsurp and I'm excited by this new aspect of my shooting sports. I did serve in the Artillery Militia but trained with the FN of course.

The rifle is a BSA Shirley manufactured gun from 1945. In pictures it appears complete and as issued. I'll post proper info and pics when it arrives here in Calgary.

The plan is to shoot the rifle and not alter it in any way. I just added cast bullets to my hobby so i think it will be a cast shooter from day1 with me.

Nice! I like the fore-end metal cap. Think it looks better. Nice smooth wood.

+1 for the cast boolits! Way to go. Once you've got a handle on casting they are as good as most jacketed for accuracy and far easier on the bore. Shooting bullets I have made just adds another level to the enjoyment. 2 years ago a 5 point whitail buck dropped to one shot from my #5 with a Lee 186 gr. cast slug at a little over 100 yards. Hit just behind the shoulder, went clear through and wrecked his lungs.
