What is this, where and when is it from and what is it worth?
I loaned a dude 40 bucks and took this as collateral back in 1988. As I recall he bought a bag of reefers and a case of beer with the money. Never tried to reclaim it. Said it was his Dad's and German or some thing.
Looks like a standard postwar German Bundeswher fighting knife.
The Handle is NOT a standard issue one though! it SHOULD be a two piece Green plastic one.
NOT wood. Though it looks old, this MAY POSSIBLY be an early variant wooden gripped version. Though I cannot be more specific on that. I have handled many Hundereds of these.
ALL were green plastic handled varities. Other than the wood grip, it IS a standard Bundy one.
Thank you so much. I will see what kind of information I can dig up now that I have a direction to go in. I suppose posting any cartouches or numbers here would be beneficial for the collective.
Over all I really like the knife. It is very well made and keeps a surprisingly sharp edge. Works well on deer at hunting season. =)
Quite a nice knife, it may serve you better as a display piece rather than Deer knife. Steve
