I've got two pair of these leggings but can't decide if they are US or British. I have never seen the "quilted" pattern before. Can anyone identify them?

Certainly they are a US pattern, which war is unclear to me. The Australians were seen using these leggings in WW2, but they were of US pattern and manufacture.Quote:

Of course it could be possible that one of the US allies made them for their army. I looked through three books I have about WWII gear and didn't see anything that showed a specific design with that type of fabric but that doesn't mean a lot either.
If going on ebay they're US WWII type leggings.
I saw an ad for jump boots the other day that said. Authentic USGI reproduction boots :banghead:
One thing that get's my goat is if I'm trying to search for a specific item and keep running across that 1/6 scale stuff made for GI Joes or whatever they are and the little photos looks good enough it catches your eye while trying to scan.
US style, the "quilted" look makes me think it was done for reinforcement. Not unlike the 1917 mounted leggins with the leather on the inner calves.
These leggings are very soft and supple - not stiff like other leggings I have owned. They appear to be made from cotton
Also looks that they are lined with cotton? Not sure what they are.
A complete WAG, but was there a "cold-weather" legging? One argument against it is that cotton retains water. Wool would make more sense IF there was a cold climate variation, so...:dunno:
